Updates!

It has been a while since my last post. Well almost a whole month!

Little girl is doing well at almost 23 weeks along. She is getting big in there. I went from hardly feeling any movement to now feeling kicks and flips. It is a welcomed comfort to all of the worry that comes from not knowing if she is OK. These kicks are definitely reassuring.

I had my first perinatal visit for gestational diabetes last week. The nurse was helpful and got me set up on my eating and blood monitoring plan. A big difference in this pregnancy is that they want me to fax a journal of what I ate, every week, along with a log of all of my glucose results. They are also going to do a fetal echo at the end of February to examine the baby's heart and extra ultrasounds toward the end of the pregnancy to monitor her growth. I didn't have to do all of that with DS, but it is reassuring to know that baby girl is getting extra attention. If a complication arises, I'm sure they will catch it.

I am doing very well in the weight gain department. I have gained 7 pounds, so far, as of my last doc appointment on 1/11. It's a 2 pound gain from my pre-pregnancy weight. I lost 5 initially and then gained it back. I weighed myself on the home scale and no change. That is probably from the new GD diet.

Her room is coming along. The paint is up and the furniture has been put together. No decorations yet. The top half of the room is pink and bottom white separated by chair railing. We are going to decorate with Lady Bug by Kids Line (see link). I will post pictures as it comes along.

We are still trying to decide on a name. Top contenders are Cailey (like Bailey or Hailey) , Charlotte, or Cailyn. Her middle name is Victoria.

Those are all of the updates for now!

  1. It sounds the the GD stuff is going good and the extra precautions are awesome! And way to go on the weight gain, that's great!!

The decorations are super cute, she is going to have an adorable room!

I LOVE Cailyn, granted I think I am partial because my middle name is Lyn but that is too cute. All 3 choices are cute...isn't deciding hard!!!! :) Good luck!

I love Cailey and also the middle name sounds great!! So wonderful to hear about the movement. The faxing a journal of what you ate is pretty interesting. I never had to do anything like that.
Sounds like you have it all under control though, great to hear all is going well :)
